As you know, northeastern Japan has been devastated by a massive earthquake and tsunami which killed thousands of people, displaced hundreds of thousands more and did unfathomable damage to the region’s infrastructure. Fortunately, we have learned that the employees and families of Medicon and Bard Japan are all safe and accounted for.
The C. R. Bard Foundation has pledged $150,000 for both immediate and long-term recovery needs, and is assessing proposals from several relief organizations. At this time, the Japanese government is not accepting product donations from outside of Japan.
In addition, the C. R. Bard Foundation has established a link on the Matching Gifts Program site specifically for Bard employees in the U.S. and Puerto Rico to contribute directly to the Japan relief efforts coordinated by American Red Cross, AmeriCares, Direct Relief International, Project HOPE and Save the Children. Our thoughts are with the families and communities affected by this tragedy.
